Filming Diary 2

In our second day of filming, we decided to do some studio work and film some lip syncing so we were able to include a performance aspect as well as some narrative. We chose to include some of the lip syncing because this is a typical convention in almost all of the music videos - especially within the rap genre. Overall this lip syncing went well and will fit in with the overall message of the song and the mix of the performance and narrative will work well together which is one of the things we initially wanted to achieve. In the studio, we also decided to film a shot of a baby bump in reference to a lyric of the singer wishing that his friend had had a baby before he died so that he would have a part of his friend to keep with him and he would be able to tell the child about how good his father was. To show this baby bump, we used a mid-shot so that it showed some of the subject in more detail while still showing enough of the subject so that the audience feel like they're seeing the whole subject in the frame. The actor wore a baggy jumper with black skinny jeans to convey the typical male costumes that are most often seen within rap music videos.

Over the first two days of filming, we feel like there are enough good shots to edit together so before we begin filming again, we're going to review the footage and edit them together so we can see what our next steps are.
